Public Policy Forum RSVP
On Thursday, March 12, 2020, the Consortium for Ocean Leadership’s annual Public Policy Forum will explore the topic of Ascending from the Summit: Transforming U.S. Ocean Science & Technology Partnerships. In November 2019, the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy and the Council on Environmental Quality hosted the White House Summit on Partnerships in Ocean Science and Technology. This first-time ocean science and technology partnership event brought together over 100 leaders from a variety of sectors — philanthropy, academia, public, and private —to identify opportunities for partnership in eight critical areas of ocean science research. While the White House Summit provided a much-needed starting point, to strengthen existing relationships and build new ones we need to find a way to go even higher than this “summit.”
Building upon the White House Summit, this year’s Public Policy Forum will expand the scope of this conversation by convening perspectives from a broader cross-section of the ocean community. During four panel discussions, speakers will offer their insights from the White House Summit, honing in on what partnerships we need to explore the ocean, characterize ocean life, protect coastal health and safety, and sustain ocean observations.
Breakfast and lunch will be provided, and there will be a pre-forum congressional reception, cohosted by the Oceans Caucus Foundation and with the Senate Oceans Caucus as the honorary co-host, the evening of March 11.
