This position serves as the principal policy expert regarding Marine Protected Species (MPS) enforcement for the Coast Guard. Responsible for program direction, oversight, administration, resource planning, technical leadership and execution of the MPS enforcement program within the Coast Guard.
Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include:
- Establishing, developing and overseeing long-term national regional partnerships and cooperative agreements for living marine resource enforcement with other Federal agencies, international organizations, state and local governments, non-governmental organizations, industry and research institutions.
- Developing and distributing national policy, standards and specifications for the MPS enforcement program.
- Providing technical and advisory assistance and direction to, and participates with other high-ranking ocean resource managers and specialist in, developing national inter-agency Marine Protected Species (MPS) enforcement policies and conservation and management plans.
- Serving as the program liaison to international organizations, state and local governments, non-government organizations, industry, research institutions, and state organizations.
