The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution invites exceptional candidates to apply for the executive position of Deputy Director and Vice President for Research. This position reports directly to the President and Director and is a member of both Senior Administration and Staff Council. You will lead the five (5) research departments (Biology, Marine Chemistry and Geochemistry, Marine Geology and Geophysics, Applied Ocean Physics and Engineering, and Physical Oceanography; www.whoi.edu/main/departments-centers-labs) and the Marine Policy Center in maintaining the scientific integrity and enhancing the research and engineering excellence of the Institution. More broadly, you will lead the Institution on many strategic fronts while fostering the entrepreneurial activities of its scientific and technical staff. Applicants should have a doctoral degree with significant marine-related research accomplishments, familiarity with field and sea-going research, proven skills in leadership, research administration, management, and communications, and experience working with federal agencies.
