After a competitive bid process to provide integrated science services in support of the U.S. drillship of the Integrated Ocean Drilling Program (IODP), Overseas Drilling Limited (ODL) was selected as the provider of an existing vessel, the JOIDES Resolution, that will be converted into a state of the art SODV.

As such, ODL is responsible for planning and supervising vessel conversion operations, including shipyard solicitation and selection, demobilization, equipment procurements, testing and commissioning. ODL will also be responsible for subsequent scientific drilling and coring operations at sea once the vessel conversion is complete.
