On this Expedition:
As one of the senior scientific investigators for this expedition, I work with the other scientists and students mostly in the area of geophysics. I have helped the teacher at sea and with this web site because to work with students is a good goal. I like photography and have helped with many pictures to show students how we work here at sea.

About myself:
I have been on about 30 marine expeditions including 15 long cruises in the Indian, Pacific, Atlantic and Arctic Oceans. Main topics: until middle nineties last century – seismic reflection profiling in the deep ocean to study tectonics and sedimentary processes; later till now – mostly very high resolution seismic reflection profiling over shallow-water shelf of the Russian seas to study Quaternary Geology and Paleoceanography as well as for engineering geological prospecting in commercial projects with industrial companies, and sometimes only deep-sea surveys.
For Students:
The oceans occupy more 70% of the Globe but they are studied rather more than space. Living substance was born there at first to spread overland later. Oceanographic observations are needed for daily weather forecasts and long-term climate changing predictions. Fishes and other seafood from oceans are an important part of man’s foodstuff. Resource of oil and gas are reduced fast overland and their production in the sea headily increases. XXI century will be epoch of oceans’ study and developing.
