On this Expedition:
I am a part of the geophysics science team. It is interesting because our team includes people from other countries, other universities and also includes the ships crew and technical support. Part of our group met in Bangkok, Thailand and were able to see some things there before our two months at sea. We stand watch here to monitor all the data collection instruments that are used for geophysics. This includes the ship course and heading as well as recording the seismic equipment and magnetometer. We report everything every 15 minutes while we are on our four-hour watch. We also help on deck anytime of the day or night when we are moving equipment or dredging, doing safety drills, or having science meetings. There is always a lot going on! I have been helping with the Sea90e website and I like to go out on the front deck and look for whales when I am not on watch.

About myself:
I am a graduate student and just completed my bachelors degree in geology. I am studying at Texas A&M for my advanced degree. At sea I like to run, lift weights and search for marine mammals. I am currently searching for the elusive Indo-Pacific Humpback Dolphin.
For Students:
Going to sea has been very interesting for me because I actually get to see things I learned about in school, such as whales and ocean currents! It is the best "lab class" I have ever taken!
