On this Expedition:
My work is to conduct a marine mammal watch during this scientific expedition. Our work is an integral part of the research, especially due to the use of seismic air instruments. During all seismic surveys, we monitor the area around the ship and will stop the use of the seismic gear if a marine mammal approaches the ship. This is a 24 hour job and during long survey runs, we also have the geophysicists assist with observations. At all times, we also record the marine life, including mammals, all types of birds and flying fish; we keep a log of our observations. We are in an area where there is not much information, so it is interesting to observe!

About myself:
I have studied marine mammals for many years and have been lucky enough to work in all the oceans of the world, from the Arctic to the Antarctic. I am a wanderer of the seas and love the sailor's life.
For Students:
Seventy percent of the earth's surface is covered by oceans - it's an amazing and diverse place, with much to be explored and many discoveries to be made!
