2008: "The Journey Continues"

Sea90e was an expedition to the Ninety East Ridge in the Indian Ocean during the summer of 2007 aboard the RV Roger Revelle. Our goal was to gather scientific data to test the hotspot hypothesis:

  • Geophysicists explored then mapped this undersea mountain ridge and geochronologists collected rocks for analysis.
  • Secondary students participated directly with scientists online via satellite videoconferencing and the Sea90e project website. Updated resources are now available here for students & educators.

Now during 2008, scientists and educators will continue collaboration with the Consortium for Ocean Leadership. We will publish research results and link to related expeditions. Join our ongoing journey! RW
