The National Ocean Sciences Bowl (NOSB) national program office is currently conducting a year-end campaign for donations that will provide the 2,000 regionally competing students from 325 high schools in 34 states plus Washington, D.C., with study materials and interactive tools to learn about the 2015 competition theme – “Science of Oil in the Ocean.”
This is an important and challenging topic that impacts people, marine organisms, and environments. By learning this information, students will better understand:
- Origins of oil in the ocean;
- Transport, breakdown, and cleanup of oil in the ocean;
- Impacts of oil on organisms, ecosystems, and humans; and
- Policies related to oil production, spills, and restoration.
To date, the NOSB has raised $4,068 of is $5,000 goal!
Please consider making a donation to the NOSB by December 31st. With your help, the NOSB can continue to nurture the next generation of ocean scientists and stewards.
The regional NOSB hosts are registering teams and recruiting volunteers for their 2015 regional competitions. To learn the date of your closest regional competition, please visit the NOSB’s state-by-state competition map.
