Thirteen science educators from across North America set sail for 13 days aboard the JOIDES Resolution, as participants in the latest “School of Rock Expedition for Educators” professional development workshop. The group spent a majority of their 12-hour days working alongside four instructors and ship’s crew during IODP Expedition 341S, off the coast of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. The instructional team guided the participants through an exploration of seafloor core samples to learn about faults and subduction zones, as well as microbes from the deep biosphere.
