Opportunity: Internship – Hutton Junior Fisheries Biology Program of the American Fisheries Society
The Hutton Junior Fisheries Biology Program is a paid summer internship and mentoring program for high schools juniors and seniors interested in pursuing science disciplines associated with natural resource and environment management.
Under the Hutton Program, selected students are awarded a $4,000 scholarship while benefiting from an eight week hands-on fisheries science summer experience in a marine and/or freshwater setting. From the beginning of the program in 2001 to its current year 2015, the program has offered scholarships to 572 Hutton scholars with the help of 270 Mentors in 137 host and financially sponsoring institutions.
Our mission is to increase diversity within the fisheries professions with the principal goal of stimulating career interest in fisheries science and management among groups underrepresented in the fisheries professions, such as minorities and women.
