Call for Technical Inputs for the Fourth National Climate Assessment, Oceans and Marine Resources Chapter
The purpose of the Oceans and Marine Resources (OMR) Chapter of the 4th U.S. National Climate Assessment (NCA4) is to summarize the state of knowledge concerning climate impacts on U.S. ocean ecosystems and marine resources since the previous NCA (NCA3, 2014).
Provide input on key topics, scientific findings and literature for consideration in drafting the OMR Chapter. Input will help the Author Team develop a draft Chapter based on the best available science.
The National Climate Assessment (NCA) is a Congressionally-mandated, quadrennial summary of current and potential future impacts of changing climate on the United States. The NCA covers climate impacts on a range of topics including the natural environment, agriculture, energy production and use, land and water resources, transportation, human health and welfare, human social systems and biological diversity.
The NCA4 is currently under development for completion in 2018. It will be divided into National Chapters (such as the OMR Chapter), Regional Chapters, and Responses. Public input is a essential to successful completion of NCA4. The draft NCA4 is slated to be released for public comment in the Fall of 2017.
