Allison Byrd received her Bachelor’s in Marine Science from Coastal Carolina University with a minor in Environmental Science. While at Coastal, she received the NASA Space Grant research grant twice for her research on Gulf Stream Rings. She presented this research as an undergraduate at the National Conference for Undergraduate Research and at the AGU Joint Assembly Meeting in 2005. After graduation, she moved to Tallahassee, Florida to work on her Master’s Degree in Physical Oceanography. While finishing up her Masters Degree requirements, she has been working at the Consortium for Ocean Leadership. In her free time, she coaches high school swimming and travels to Charlotte, North Carolina to visit her boyfriend, Matt. Allison is originally from Fredericksburg, VA, and is a HUGE fan of the Atlanta Braves and shopping.
