Advisory Committeefor the Climate Communications Initiative Announced!
The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine haveappointed a new Advisory Committee for the Climate Communications Initiative(CCI), a major initiative to more effectively enable its extensive body of workon climate science, impacts, and response options to inform the public anddecision makers. The CCI will aim to coordinate efforts across the Academies tosuccessfully address public questions about climate change, develop innovativeapproaches for communicating and disseminating climate information, and toprovide easy access to evidence-based findings and explanations of climatechange to various audiences.
The Advisory Committee willhelp to develop a strategic plan for the initiative and provide guidance inimplementing the plan. The committee will be chaired by David Titley,professor of practice in meteorology and founding director of the Center forSolutions to Weather and Climate Risk at the Pennsylvania State University andformer Rear Admiral in the U.S. Navy.
