JOI Diversity MSPHDs: Where We've Been - Potsdam
In May 2006, JOI took six MS PHD'S students to Potsdam, Germany to attend the Science Steering and Evaluation Panel (SSEP) Meeting, which is part of the science advisory structure for the Integrated Ocean Drilling Program (IODP). During their time in Potsdam, students participated in the review of science proposals submitted to the IODP, gained insights into the proposal review process and what goes into the development of world-class science, received mentoring from the U.S. scientists on the panel, networked with scientists from all over the world, and explored the sights of Potsdam and Berlin. Read their daily blog about the experience. Attending were: Ms Amy Castner, Minority Programs Coordinator at JOI Ms Jozan Powell, MS PHD'S Coordinator and a graduate student at the University of South Florida Ms Juanita Escalera, undergraduate student at the Universidad Metropolitana (Puerto Rico) Ms Sekeenia Haynes, graduate student at Florida A&M University Mr. Warner Ithier, graduate student at the University of South Florida Ms Elizabeth Padilla, graduate student at Georgia Institute of Technology Ms Treda Smith, graduate student at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science Mr. Jason White, graduate student at Howard University | 1201 New York Ave NW | |
