DiversityMissionDiversity programs and partnerships provide learning opportunities, mentoring, fellowships and other horizon-building experiences for minority students to explore careers in the Earth System sciences. PartnershipsHBCU Fellowship - funded through the U.S. Implementing Organization (USIO) for the Integrated Ocean Drilling Program (IODP), the HBCU Fellowship provides meaningful educational experiences that convey the excitement and broad range of career opportunities available in scientific ocean drilling and large-scale science program management. The Fellowship is open to undergraduate and graduate students majoring in science and engineering, education and/or communications fields who are also enrolled at an Historically Black Colleges & Universities. MS PHD'S Program - The Minorities Striving and Pursuing Higher Degrees of Success in the Earth System Sciences (MS PHD'S) Professional Development Program provides minority undergraduate and graduate students with opportunities for increased exposure to, interaction with, and participation in the Earth system science communities. As an institutional partner, Ocean Leadership provides entrée into the international nature of large-scale science programs. Oceans of Opportunity - Oceans of Opportunity: Enhancing African American Participation in the Marine Sciences is a pilot program building sustained engagement of African American students in the marine geosciences at the elementary, secondary and postsecondary levels in the Savannah, GA area.
