Board Relations Internship, Consortium For Ocean Leadership

The Consortium for Ocean Leadership is offering a Washington, DC-based internship focusing on the areas of board relations while supporting the mission and work of Consortium for Ocean Leadership (COL).

The Board Relations internship is designed to further professional development for current or recently graduated students by working with COL’s board relations and executive office staff.  The intern will support the executive office and Chief of Staff in facilitating the organization’s relationships and communications with COL member institutions, board members, and other key stakeholders and community leaders.  The intern will work in partnership with the Chief of Staff to support activities related to the Board of Trustees and with the Manager, Executive Office in overall facility-related services and activities.

Qualified applicants

  • Must possess (or be in the final stages of pursuing) a bachelor’s degree in business affairs, nonprofit management, or a related field and have interest in working with board and executive management organizational levels.
  • Experience with executive office and corporate operations, corporate structure, etc. is a plus but not required.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Initiative
  • Common sense
  • Ability to work on multiple projects with a minimum of supervision
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to handle multiple tasks;
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills for regular, unsupervised work on documents in MSWord, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and web-based research are also required.

This full-time internship is for the period of February 2018 through January 2019.   The intern will be paid an hourly rate of $12.50 and will be eligible for certain benefits including accrued sick leave, health insurance, and a commuting subsidy.
