Find Your Legislator

Your legislators were elected to represent their constituents – that means you! It’s critical for them to hear from you about what’s important and how they’re doing representing your interests – and not just at election time.

While this section focuses on reaching out to your federal legislators, remember that you can also contact your state and local representatives as well.

Contacting Your Legislators

The power to change policy begins by making contact with your elected officials. Learn who to reach out to, and how, at the following links:

U.S. Elected Officials:
Federal Government

Federal elections occur every two years, on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November.

Every member of the House of Representatives and about one-third of the Senate is up for reelection in any given election year.

Term lengths are two years for representatives, six years for senators, and four years for the president.
